TRADITIONAL FACIAL VERSUS HYDRAFACIAL: ARE HYDRAFACIALS REALLY WORTH THE HYPE?

HydraFacials and Traditional Facials may have quite a bit in common but they’re essentially different! To curb unnecessary lengthiness, we are going to drive straight into some frequently asked questions to distinguish between the two procedures.

What does the Traditional Facial entail?

During a traditional facial, your skin type is analyzed (if the provider is indeed a qualified professional), then it is cleansed and steamed.
In some cases, they might also massage your face before applying a mask.
After removing your mask, they apply moisturizers to hydrate and nourish your skin.

What is the HydraFacial process?

A HydraFacial is a non-invasive 3-in-1 procedure that deep-cleans, exfoliates and hydrates your skin. It relies on a suction-based device to cleanse and remove dirt and debris from your pores. This same device refills your pores with hydrating peptides and antioxidants, leaving you with an instant glow.

In summary;

Step 1: Your skin is exfoliated and cleansed with a small tool, followed by a gentle acid peel to remove any remaining debris in the pores.

Step 2: Your skin pores then undergo a painless extraction process.

Step 3: Finally, the skin is nourished with an antioxidant-rich serum.

What makes a HydraFacial superior to a Traditional Facial?

· There’s no manual extraction with a HydraFacial which makes the process gentler on the skin.
· HydraFacial results last much longer.
· HydraFacial results can easily be seen and felt instantly (which can happen with a Traditional Facial but to a less extent).
· There’s more visible hydration with after a HydraFacial.

· A HydraFacial will minimize dark spots which is not likely with a Traditional Facial.

· In case you have fine lines, a HydraFacial will significantly blur them which isn’t the same expected effect from a Traditional Facial.

In a nutshell, a HydraFacial adds the proven results of microdermabrasion to the nourishing benefits of a traditional facial to gently extract impurities from your face while removing dead skin cells from its surface.

Other important HydraFacial facts

· It is advisable to get one HydraFacial per month but the exact frequency is dependent on the state of your skin and best prescribed by the Specialist.

· HydraFacials require zero downtime! You can even apply makeup and go about your day immediately following treatment.

· The HydraFacial Treatment takes between 15 – 30 minutes.

LASER TATTOO REMOVAL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Laser Tattoo Removal?

Laser Tattoo Removal is a safe, effective & non-invasive method for getting rid of unwanted tattoos using lasers. It only targets the ink of your unwanted tattoo and leaves the surrounding skin unaffected.

How is a tattoo removed through Laser Tattoo Removal?

It utilizes laser beams which use concentrated bursts of energy to heat up the ink beneath the skin and break the ink into smaller particles.

Does it work the same for all tattoo colors?

No. Black tattoo pigment absorbs all laser wavelengths, making them the easiest to treat. Tattoos with different colors require the use of multiple lasers operating at different frequencies.

Does the tattoo disappear in one go?

No. After each visit, your tattoo should become progressively lighter but the exact number of sessions cannot be predicted in advance. The number also depends on the age, size, color of your skin, how deep the tattoo pigment goes and the color of your tattoo. Smaller tattoos require fewer sessions than larger ones. Usually 5-10 sessions are required, although up to 20 may be required in some cases.

How does Laser Tattoo Removal feel?
You will experience irritation. But most patients don’t need anesthesia. Depending on the location of your tattoo, we may apply a topical anesthesia cream beforehand.

How do I care for the treatment area after a Laser Tattoo Removal session?

Use an ice pack to soothe the treated area. And apply an antibiotic cream or ointment and bandage to protect it. You should also be sure it’s covered with sunblock when you’re outside.

Am I completely free from any negative side-effects following a Laser Tattoo Removal session?

No. Hypopigmentation may occur which constitutes some changes in the texture or color of your skin following treatment. The skin can also get infected particularly when an area of the treatment is neglected.

DEBUNKING 6 COMMON WEIGHT LOSS MYTHS!

Being in shape is a big deal, more than ever. Therefore, the internet is awash with weight loss tips. Many of these are heavily flawed and have led some people to the wrong path. Here are six of the commonest weight loss myths.

Thinner is healthier!

Obesity may increase your risk of several chronic illnesses, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and some cancers but many chubby people are metabolically healthy and plenty of thin people have these same chronic diseases. What matters more is where your fat builds up. If you have a lot of fat in your abdominal area, you’re at a greater risk of metabolic disease.

Carbs make you fat!

While it is true that as long as you keep carb intake low and protein intake high, you’ll lose weight, the obesity epidemic started around 1980 and yet humans have been eating carbs for a very long time. The fact is that whole foods that are high in carbs are healthy while refined carbs like refined grains and sugar are definitely linked to weight gain.

Eat less, move more!

It may seem logical that eating less and moving more would cause weight loss but this only works in theory. Most people who follow this advice end up regaining any lost weight due to physiological and biochemical factors. A major and sustained change in perspective and behaviour is needed to lose weight with diet and exercise. Simply restricting your food intake and getting more physical activity aren’t enough.

Losing weight is a Linear Process!

Some days and weeks you may lose weight, while during others you may gain a little bit. This is not a cause for concern. It’s normal for body weight to fluctuate up and down by a few pounds. You may be carrying more food in your digestive system or holding on to more water than usual making you weigh more. This is even more pronounced in women, as water weight can fluctuate significantly during the menstrual cycle.

Supplements help you lose weight!

The main reason that supplements may work for some people is because they tend to become more conscious of what they eat while using the supplements.

The truth of the matter is that most supplements for weight loss are ineffective. The best ones can help you lose a bit of weight, at most.

Fat makes you fat!

Fat can be calorie-dense especially in junk foods but as long as your calorie intake is within a healthy range, fat does not make you fat. In fact, your body needs healthy fats to function properly.
